So, this will be interesting. I wonder how long I'll keep going before I stumble into some letter which I decidedly couldn't do without. E? Some other vowel? I wonder. I'm sure it will be some vowel which will get the better of me. Let's see. Bring it on!! (Obviously I've tons of time but not enough things to do)

How the tables were turned
Q: Who is the Drama Queen?
A: (patting herself) Ninni daama qeen!!
Q: Who is the boss?
A: Mamma bossh!!
I showed off a few times in front of friends by asking her these questions and having her answer them "correctly". Of course, J and S could not tolerate my success so they started a campaign of their own. They taught M to answer these questions as follows:
A: Mamma daama qeen!!
A: (patting herself) Ninni bossh!!
J: Ninni, who is the drama queen?
Ninni: Mamma daama qeen!
Ninni: No, MY daama qeen Ninni!!
Mamma: No, MY drama queen!!
Goes to show who really is the boss ;)

What do you do if
J turns 40 tomorrow, April 11th. I have planned a surprise party for him with a few close friends. Nothing too elaborate - just how he'd like it (I hope!) - 5 close friends and their families,
To get him out of the house, so I can prepare for the party, I am gifting him two movie tickets to "Fast and Furious". I have enlisted help from a friend of his who will pick him up, take him to the movies and then for happy hour in a nearby bar and then bring him home when everyone has arrived. There the surprise will register and end pretty quickly because he is bound to figure everything out when he sees all those cars in our driveway. But it should be an interesting moment :)
The menu comprises of dishes he likes. Falafel, chholey tikiya, papdi chaat, dahi bade, daal kachori, matar (peas) samosas, shrikhand and baklava. Falalfel and baklava have been ordered from a restaurant he likes them from. Everything else will be made by yours truly. Well, except the cake. That responsibility has been handed over to another good friend who will order it from a bakery in NJ. A very haphazard menu but I hope he'll like it. I asked him what his favorite chaat items are and he thinks I am going to make them for him on his birthday for LUNCH! I have asked him to take us out for dinner :D I hope he doesn't know about the surprise and isn't just playing me along.
Well, I'll post an update on how it all goes. Till then, wish me luck!!
Update: It is 12.38 AM on April 11th. I have already gifted him the movie tickets and told him this is so he can get 2 hours without the three bhootnis who constantly badger him in this house :D I have told him that I am preparing so much food because I want to make his favorite food items ALL WEEK LONG. I don't know if he bought it. He did laugh and say "I'll see if it goes beyond 2 days" (That's because I am "famous" for changing the weekly menu umpteen times at the drop of a hat..... Well many hats)

Riddle-me-Ree, who can she be?
and good work to all of you!
For having solved the riddle before
I give you all this clue.
The letter " R "
Write it down, add it on...
And let's move on to the next little song.
“Her name opens a cave of memories
Her little one is her joy and pride
Little is more, she does believe
When she writes, its a joy ride
She is not a regular
But her wise words are bonafide
Who is she?”
Solve it and you get your lead
Misguess, and you lose your speed
Solve it slow but solve it now
And before you go, take a little bow
Go to 'Comments' and leave me a clue
Tell me which blog you are off to.
Good luck! Good luck! Be on your way.
You have your work, cut out for the day!

Merry Christmas to All
Dear Santa,
I've been a good mom all year. I've fed, cleaned and cuddled my children on demand, visited the doctor's office more than my doctor and sold sixty-two cases of candy bars to raise money to plant a shade tree on the school playground.
I was hoping you could spread my list out over several Christmas', since I had to write this letter with my son's red crayon, on the back of a receipt in the laundry room between cycles, and who knows when I'll find anymore free time in the next 18 years.
Here are my Christmas wishes:
I'd like a pair of legs that don't ache (in any color, except purple, which I already have) and arms that don't hurt or flap in the breeze, but are strong enough to pull my screaming child out of the candy aisle in the grocery store.
I'd also like a waist, since I lost mine somewhere in the seventh month of my last pregnancy.
If you're hauling big ticket items this year, I'd like fingerprint resistant windows and a radio that only plays adult music, a television that doesn't broadcast any programs containing talking animals, and a refrigerator with a secret compartment behind the crisper where I can hide to talk on the phone.
On the practical side, I could use a talking doll that says, "Yes, Mommy" to boost my parental confidence, along with two kids who don't fight and three pairs of jeans that will zip all the way up without the use of power tools.
I could also use a recording of Tibetan monks chanting "Don't eat in the living room" and "Take your hands off your brother", because my voice seems to be just out of my children's hearing range and can only be heard by the dog.
If it's too late to find any of these products, I'd settle for enough time to brush my teeth and comb my hair in the same morning, or the luxury of eating food warmer than room temperature without it being served in a Styrofoam container.
If you don't mind, I could also use a few Christmas miracles to brighten the holiday season. Would it be too much trouble to declare ketchup a vegetable? It will clear my conscience immensely. It would be helpful if you could coerce my children to help around the house without demanding payment as if they were the bosses of an organized crime family.
Well, Santa, the buzzer on the dryer is calling and my son saw my feet under the laundry room door. I think he wants his crayon back.
Have a safe trip and remember to leave your wet boots by the door and come in and dry off so you don't catch cold.
Help yourself to cookies on the table but don't eat too many or leave crumbs on the carpet.
Yours Always,
MOM...
P.S. One more thing... you can cancel all my requests if you can keep my children young enough to believe in Santa.
Well, I had the whole post all prepared in my mind in the morning but it so happens that it is almost midnight now and I am dead on my feet. Don't remember what else I wanted to write, and don't care. The baby's quasi-sick and needs to be taken to the doctor's office at 8 in the morning just so we can make sure she is OK. (She is, we'd just like to make sure).
So, a Merry Christmas to you all (if I don't post again before 25th). Oh, yes! The Christmas tree was finally set up last night and S and I will decorate it tomorrow morning. S has already packed our gifts in plastic bags and kept them under the tree. We, the lazy parents, still need to shop for hers. And here's my dilemma. She wants a laptop and an iPod Nano (not necessarily right now) but isn't she a little too young for those? Would love to know what you think. I don't want her listening to loud music using earbuds as research has proven that those cause the most damage to young people's hearing. And laptop? Well, we already have two desktops and she uses them. I already told her once that no kid in this house is getting a TV or a phone in their room. Should I add laptop to that list?

12 Days of Christmas
I first received this in my email about a year ago. Today, S came home and showed it to me (she definitely IS growing up!) and I thought of sharing it here. Enjoy! (If you haven't already seen it too).

| ...take a quiz! You scored as Peter Pan, Your alter ego is Peter Pan. You are a child at heart. Anything you believe is possible, and you never want to grow up.
Which Disney Character is your Alter Ego? created with QuizFarm.com |
I am SO glad that Snow White and Cinderella feature lower down the list. I would have preferred their names not appear on the list at all, but well...
And I LOVE the fact that Goofy is second from the top!! I love Goofy. I can act goofy! (Or should that be "goofily"? Is that even a word?)

Krazy Kays & their Knack for Krazy Knicks
* Cheeni: Sugar
Now on to the reeeally embarrassing nick names. There is a story behind them so I will narrate it first. Without it, those nicks just won’t make sense. When we were newly married, one day I called J “Sadela Gubrela” (Rotten beetle). Now J has a knack for playing with words. He can transform the sweetest, most innocent word into something wacky and funny in an instant. So pat came the reply “Sadeli Goo Bhareli”. To those unfamiliar with the middle classy word, it means poop (literally) and the last word means “full of” in Gujarati. So “sadela Gubrela” became “Sadela Goo Bharela” and then we applied this nick name to S (Poor, poor kid! Now you understand why I am saving for her therapy?) She is a good sport and didn’t throw a fit when we explained the meaning to her when she was old enough to understand. When M came home from the hospital, S very generously decided to share that nick name with her. She said she will keep the first part (“Sadeli") for herself, and generously hand over the second part (Goo Bhareli) to her little sis. Only, she mistakenly said “Goo Dhareli” instead of “Goo Bhareli" thanks to her broken Hindi. Now, I might not have the knack for witty/wacky names, but I do have a knack for translating ones that don’t have an apparent meaning. So I translated the second one as “Sitting like a poop” ( I know, I know – this post shouldn’t even have seen the light of the day) as “Dhareli” in Gujarati can be loosely translated to “dumped” in some instances. So now we have a Goo Bhareli and a Goo Dhareli in our house. And S has now generously donated “Sadeli/Sadela” to her mom and dad.
Remind me to start a savings account for M’s therapy too, will you?

HumptyDumpty had a great fall...
But the thing that Humpty-Dumpty is most thankful about is that Baby M, who was in her left arm at that time, is safe and sound. Maternal instincts, I guess. As Humpty-Dumpty started falling, her right arm went to hold Baby M securely instead of breaking the fall.
So now The King is pampering Humpty-Dumpty :D

I'm on a roll :P
